A noted lawyer and an outstanding academician, Dr. S. M. Rajan (popularly known as 'Rajan Sir') is a well known personality in the field of law. He has a vast experience of having taught the students of law on various subjects of law at the RTM Nagpur University's Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar College of Law. He has been also a Visiting/Guest faculty to several educational institutions including the National Fire Service College (Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India), Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Intellectual Property Management (Ministry of Commerce and Industries, Govt. of India), S.P. College of Law, Dr. Ambedkar College and Centre for Labour and Social Research & St. Charles Seminary, Nagpur.

Having completed his Post Graduation in Commerce, Industrial Relations and Personnel Management, Dr. Rajan has obtained his LL.M. in Constitutional and Administrative Law. He was awarded the prestigious degree of Ph.D. in the faculty of Law by the RTM Nagpur University on the topic titled, "Article 356 of the Constitution of India - Precepts and Practices - A Critique" for which he was felicitated and awarded a "Certificate of Appreciation" at the hands of His Excellency Hon'ble Dr. P.C. Alexander, the then Governor of Maharashtra and Chancellor of RTM Nagpur University for being the first Research Student of then S.P. National Academy for Legal Studies and Research, Chandrapur (M.S.) to be conferred with the Degree of Ph.D. in Law by RTM Nagpur University. Dr. Rajan has been awarded the most prestigious Post–Doctoral Research Degree of LL.D. (Doctor of Laws) by one of the National Law Universities of India, Chankya National Law University, Patna for his research project on Constitutional Law, titled, "Constitutional Validity of Ninth Schedule under Indian Constitution-A Critique". The said degree of LL.D. was awarded to Dr. S.M. Rajan by the Hon'ble Chief Justice of India, Shri. H.L. Dattu at the Convocation held on 14th February 2015 at Chankya National Law University, Patna. He is also an approved Guide for Ph.D. Students of several universities including RTM Nagpur University.

Dr. Rajan has been vigorously promoting legal education for the past two decades and won critical acclaim for having conducted many Free Legal Aid Programmes for rural poors, downtrodden and the dis-advantaged sections of society including the women, SC's/ST's/and minorities. While taking note of his meritorious services rendered to the society, the Hon'ble Chief Justice of Bombay High Court, in exercise of the power conferred under the provisions of Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987 has recognized Dr. Rajan as an "Eminent Person in the field of Law" Under regulation 6 (iv) of the Maharashtra State Legal Services Authority Regulations, 1988 and nominated him as a Member of High Court Legal Services Sub-Committee, Nagpur for two consecutive terms. There are very few legal academics still serving the cause of legal education with the devotion and commitment credited to Dr. Rajan. As a teacher, he excels in class and was always admired by his students for clarity of expression and depth of learning.

Dr. Rajan has been awarded "Man of the Year - 2004" for his outstanding professional achievements and significant contribution in the field of 'Legal and Social Services' by one of the major and leading authorities on the biographies of distinguished individuals worldwide, the American Biographical Institute, USA. He has been chosen for distinguished standing and conferred with an honorary appointment to the Research Board of Advisors by the Board of Directors, Governing Board of Editors and Publications Board of The American Biographical Institute, USA. He has been nominated on International Editorial Board of International Journal of Multidisciplinary Research (IJMR). He is also the recipient of Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Legal Education National Award of 2012 for his meritorious services in the field of Legal Education and Social Justice. Dr. Rajan has been felicitated at the hands of His Excellency Dr. Aziz Qureshi, Governor of Uttarakhand for having conferred with 'Mahatma Phule Lifetime Achievement International Award -2013' in appreciation of his outstanding contribution in the field of education and social uplift research work. The said award was instituted by Mahatma Phule Talent Research Academy in collaboration with Cheree International Foundation and International Benevolent Research Forum.

Dr. Rajan has participated in many National & International Seminars and presented papers including the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions Asian & Pacific Regional Organization (ICFTU-APRO) held in Karuizawa, Japan. Dr. Rajan was nominated as a "Head of Indian Delegation" on behalf of Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC), New Delhi to represent in the 2nd International ICFTU-APRO Conference held at Singapore. He has also contributed several research articles in the National & International Journals including International Journal of Basic & Advanced Research. His book on "All India Bar Examination" is very popular amongst the aspiring advocates appearing for All India Bar Examination (AIBE) to obtain 'Certificate of Practice' from Bar Council of India (BCI).

Dr. Rajan is the Director of Free Legal Aid and Counseling Center for Women and also a Member of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics Groups on Child Abuse Neglect & Child Labour, Delhi. He is also associated with various social & cultural organizations including the Lions Club of Nagpur.

About

The Central India College of Law has been granted an approval of affiliation by Bar Council of India, New Delhi for imparting LL.B. (3 yrs) as well as B.A.LL.B. (5 yrs.) course from the academic session 2006-07 onwards.
